The Tioga County Amateur Radio Club (TCARC) was founded in 1976 and was reorganized in 2013 as a 501c3, supported by both grants and generous donations from the community. The club seeks to advance its members in the use of the latest electronics and radios, offers eucational programs, and one-on-one help. TCARC also works with the Tioga County Department of Emergency Services to provide emergency communication in times of disaster when all other methods have failed. Over the years members have provided safety spotters and communication for a variety of town events and have used these events to hone their skills. In 2001, the Pennsylvania State Legislature recognized Amateur Radio Operators (HAMs) for their community spirit and service.
