Machining Fundamentals is the first year of a three-year CNC production machining apprenticeship that provides your CNC operators with the machining knowledge and fundamentals necessary to advance their CNC skillsets and CNC machine production to the next level. Topics include machining technologies, shop safety, blueprint reading, an introduction to GD&T, shop math for machinists, precision measuring techniques, layout work, using hand tools, jigs & fixtures, saws & cutoff machines, band machining & broaching, and drilling processes. Instructional emphasis is placed on conventional machining processes as the foundation and preparation for CNC programming in the second & third years of the apprenticeship.
