Tioga County Indivisible is thrilled to announce the first Tioga County Pride Day being held from 12pm to 5pm on Saturday, June 25 in the lobby at the Deane Center at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro. This “Day of Love and Acceptance” is intended to demonstrate the love and support of the community for local LGBTQ+ community members. A variety of local organizations and individuals will have tables at the event, including the Canoe Camp Church, From My Shelf Books, Haven of Tioga County and USA Today bestselling author of M/M romances, V. L. Locey. The Tioga County Democratic Party will be present with information on registering to vote. Mansfield University’s department of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will have a free activity and giveaway. First Position Dance Studio will demonstrate a style of dancing called “waacking.” There will be an inclusive bake sale, an art display, face painting, and more. Tioga County Indivisible’s table will have flyers explaining the LGBTQ acronym letters, preferred pronouns, how to start a GSA, information on how to be a good ally, and a list of online resources for support. There will also be some small items and T-shirts for sale in order to raise money for next year’s event. If the weather cooperates, there will be a space outside on the Deane Center lawn for those who want to tie-dye their T-shirts. At 2pm, Vanessa Le Diva will present a “Drag Story Hour” consisting of stories, music and singing on the Deane Center lawn. Vanessa is a well-known drag queen and storyteller extraordinaire from the Corning, N.Y area who celebrates inclusivity, diversity, love, and acceptance. Tioga County Indivisible is one of thousands of grassroots groups across America.
